Pos Malaysia Berhad embarked on introducing Islamic Micro Financing as one of its new services within a postal environment. Pos ArRahnu Sdn. Bhd. was established in June 2012 with the opening of its first two outlets in Pejabat Pos Bandar Baru Bangi and Kuala Terengganu. To date, there are 65 Pos ArRahnu outlets opened at selected post offices nationwide.
Pos ArRahnu offers pawn-broking financing of up to 75% of the appraised value of gold. This financing method is offered to all Malaysians and foreigners with valid passport. It is also expected to assist small traders, low income families as well as civil servants to avail themselves to a source of easy credit in fast, simple and safe environment.
By offering interest-free financing to everyone, Pos Malaysia enhances its corporate social responsibility to another level. Pos Ar-Rahnu Sdn Bhd is expected to be a major player in the Islamic Micro Financing Business in the near term.
In November 2015, Pos ArRahnu has launched two new services which are the selling of gold bars and dinar and also used gold buyback service.
