Established in 1993, the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) is a self-funding statutory body set up by the Ministry of Finance with a dual mandate to facilitate the orderly development of the capital market, as well as to regulate to uphold investor protection and maintain the market integrity.Today Malaysia has a capital market size of RM2.7 trillion, the world’s largest sukuk market, third-largest bond market in Asia relative to GDP, and a growing unit trust industry with widespread levels of participation from confident and informed investors.


Department : Information Technology

Candidate’s role is to:

Technical lead in maintaining effective IT security management and operations to be in alignment with the SC business objectives, Secretariat to SC-CERT. To provide overall monitoring of cyber related issues and promote the awareness of cyber security to support the SC business objectives and mandate.

Candidate should have:

Strong first degree in Computer Science, Information or Network Security

At least eleven (11) years of relevant working experience in IT security architecture and operations. Knowledgeable in information security management systems, IT infrastucture management, business continunity plans, disaster recovery and IT Auditing. Excellent in network and system architecture.

What We Do

Established on 1 March 1993 under the Securities Commission Act 1993, the SC is a self-funding statutory body with investigative and enforcement powers. It reports to the Minister of Finance and its accounts are tabled in Parliament annually. The SC’s many regulatory functions include:
  • Supervising exchanges, clearing houses and central depositories;
  • Registering authority for prospectuses of corporations other than unlisted recreational clubs;
  • Approving authority for corporate bond issues;
  • Regulating all matters relating to securities and derivatives contracts;
  • Regulating the take-over and mergers of companies
  • Regulating all matters relating to unit trust schemes;
  • Licensing and supervising all licensed persons;
  • Encouraging self-regulation; and
  • Ensuring proper conduct of market institutions and licensed persons.
Underpinning all these functions is the SC’s ultimate responsibility of protecting the investor. Apart from discharging its regulatory functions, the SC is also obliged by statute to encourage and promote the development of the securities and derivatives markets in Malaysia.
